The rest is silence...

The night was cold and windy. The bright star studded sky was only ironic of her current spirits. She sat in silence and in deep thought - not her usual self. Not at all. The nagging melancholic feeling made her uncomfortable. Those that once gave her self-confidence, now seemed herculean tasks. A number of errands stood lined up and lots more awaited her sincere attention. She was dealing with them, one-at-a-time, hoping that she wouldn't mess up trying to multi task.

As she looked out into the sky from the window, her father's words of wisdom echoed in her ears - "And this too shall pass." She felt much better, but the feeling didn't last long. These were the same words that her father used whenever she got over-excited about nothing. Her father's use of puns, at times, were too bitter for her taste. She silently cursed herself for remembering it. Quite contrastingly, her mother's theories were more plain and straight. There was one instance in the past when she was upset and her mother came up to her saying, "Do you remember what was bothering you the very same day, a year ago?" With a puzzled and blank look, she answered back, "Don't think so." Her mother reassuringly smiled at her and continued, "That's the same question i will be asking you a year later and am sure you will have the same answer." It took some time for those words to sink in and make sense to her. Finally, when they did, she said, "Mom! You will make a good lawyer."

She spun back to the present and found herself smiling. Just then the door bell rang and she got up to attend it. Standing there was her best friend. She couldn't have wished for a better person to be by her side at this moment. He gave her the best of his smiles and dropped a chocolate into her hands. She wondered how he could be so cheerful inspite of his current problems. That was one attitude she truly admired in him. He whistled past her, walked in and quickly helped himself with some ice-cold water. She opened her mouth and began, "Hey, you know what?" He mockingly made a swift finger-on-your-lips gesture, like their games teacher in school and settled in the couch with a packet of chips. Turning on the tv, he browsed through the many channels until he finally found his. The next minute, loud football commentary filled the entire hall. She gave him an evil look and repented for having told him that they would feel much better in each other's company. She should have figured out the sarcasm in his voice when he accepted to drop by. She hit him hard with the pillow in her hand and vanished into her room. So different was the way people handled pressure and stress. As for her, it always remained that the deepest of feelings were to be expressed in silence.

Different people have different views about different problems in different situations and I too have a different opinion from that girl's father's wife, who happens to be his wife, which is not very different from that girl's mother and with whose different opinion I am impressed differently and I, being a very different type of guy, wanted to post this comment in a different way so that different people reading it will start thinking about me in a different way, and compliment me for thinking so differently which is by the way a different kind of feeling for me because different people have different problems at different times, but still they have this different habit of thinking differently about different kind of guys like me, who always think differently and do differently, so that someone who is as different as Dipika Pallikal see this differnt kind of comment and think differently about me and tracks my blog throught my profile link and sees the most different kind of blog in this universe and see how different I am from other guys and proposes me on February 14 in a different way by sending me a mail which has different pictures of different people in different moods who are nothing compared to my different Dipika and I will be impressed by the different thinking of Dipika and propose her inturn in a different way and we start living together in a very different way!

Hope you got a Really DIFFERENT comment from a very different guy! :)

I personally believe in the ‘idhuvum kadanthu povum’ thought. Idea is to hang on. And everyone has their own way of doing it. Combating stress and pressure (and to some extent depression) would just need to take your mind off the stuff that’s bothering you and invest time in something else. I am well known for my remedy for this. Apparently the weirdest (at least acc. to my friends), I either go on a shopping spree or have a hair cut!!!!...actually that does sound weird :) (I can almost hear the male population saying ‘Women!...ha!’

Anyways, ur asumption - left open for imagination. But my thots were more in terms of a good friend who would be supportive. A guy frnd need not be necessarily the kadalai pootings type rite. And yeah, a very different comment from u..

@ golmaalgopal:
Hmm.. So you not that kind?

@ kk:
Hehe! Thnx KK! Gils aaramecha sathi indha sendra vara ulagam. Tryin to break free from that tag :D

Actually, its kinda of sweet to destress the guys way. Was plannin to end the story as if the girl joins to watch the match wid him. But decided against it.

@ sat:
Hey.. Dats quiet weird! I need to be in a good mood to go shopping. Guess that's why it doesnt work. A good long walk in fresh air or sitting by the beach side are better resorts for destressing :)

@ priya:
Yes. That's quite true. Its finally all in the mind. Its upto us to control it and make ourselves feel better.

Tks Arun! :)

As for my opinion, when one is stressed, silence is a good way of relaxing. Personally, i wouldnt even talk to my parents or frnds when i am worked up. Only when the work gets done, will i get bk to talking terms.

@ starry nights:
Thnx starry! That's exactly what i wanted to convey :)

Very nicely written prithz! How u been?

As some people have said here, we always don't need to talk to convey our thoughts and feelings, do we?:-)

Enjoy your weekend!
